Making Mealtime Easier: Tip #1

Gross pictures, I know.  But I want to share a tip on one thing that has made the most difference in my ability to cook meals, especially during busy times like the holiday season.

It's as simple as this: buy your ground beef in bulk.  I like Sam's Club.  Then brown it all in one go that night.    I started doing this during my first pregnancy because I couldn't handle the smell of browning beef, so I just got it over with in one fell swoop.  I use four burners and have plates all lined with paper towels for some de-greasing.

Then once it's all browned and de-greased, I let it cool off a bit, then stick it in a bunch of freezer-safe tupperware dishes.
This way, when I need to whip out spaghetti really fast or when I forget that I needed to take dinner to that new mommy down the road, lasagna and tacos and so many other dishes are so much easier to pull off when I just need to heat up the hamburger rather than cook it.

  1. I do this with chicken too. Makes dinner so much faster and fewer dishes!
